Followers of my blog will know that I am currently writing the first draft of Astronomicon: Icarus. As much of the action takes place on board a mining vessel from which the book takes its name, I decided to model the ship as an aid to writing, and to maintain the best possible consistency for the many scenes on that vessel.
It’s a small, asteroid mining vessel with a strong hull, exterior armour and a very high level of manoeuvrability. With a crew of anything up to ten, living in cramped conditions, it is able to fly from Callisto Orbital station and spend a couple of weeks mining the asteroid clouds found in Jupiter’s orbit.
It’s fairly early days for the model – a lot of detail is missing, but the photos I’ve included below should give you a pretty good idea of where the design is heading.
