We are past the halfway mark now and things aren’t going too badly on the NaNoWriMo front. I’m having to work around the restriction of not having enough spare time to write every day, but I’m only slightly behind my target. Next weekend I plan to catch up and, hopefully, get a little ahead. Even with such a tight deadline, I fully expect to achieve the target 50,000 words by the end of this month.

Any writers reading this and wondering if they should give it a go next year? GO FOR IT!! I recommend it to everyone. You might not achieve the 50,000 word target, but it’s excellent experience and for many people it’s the impetus they need to make proper headway in writing a book. Many writers cite it as the key thing that gave them that push to finish their first novel, and once you know you can finish one, writing more becomes SO much easier. The only way to fail is not to try.
